Divine Divas

I guess what they preach is true, when you think positively about yourself your whole perspective changes. After the success of fitting into my bridesmaids dress I was riding the wave, feeling positive, feeling beautiful and most of all I was feeling confident in my own skin for the first time in a while.  This was the first time I actually thought fuck it and wore whatever I wanted including closes that are not usually worn by 'larger women' such as high waist jeans.  I decided to take this journey of confidence one step further and after months and months of thinking about it and putting it off I bit the bullet and booked a boudoir shot. I'd been tempted to book it back in October when my self esteem and moral was at an all time low due to a tough breakup but I really wasn't feeling very sexy, especially after finding out my Ex had been messaging other women behind my back. That really gives you a knock in the confidence department.  Luckily a childhood fr

The Wedding.

This post is a long time coming and well overdue but don't get your hopes up guys and gals... this post is not about my wedding. I am still very much single and focusing on myself. This post is however about the goal that I set myself last year and how I felt.  So you may remember that last year my wonderful best friend asked me to be her Maid of Honour. As part of this I had set myself a goal of fitting into and being comfortable in the size 16 (UK size) dress by April. In the three weeks leading up to the wedding I tried on the dress and even with the right supportive undies I didn't feel comfortable or confident so I wanted to have one last hurrah so that on the day I could be as relaxed as possible and not feel like an elephant next to the other Bridesmaids.  I booked in for extra PT sessions, restricted my food down to 1600 calories a day, tracked everything on my fitness pal and upped my water intake.  I really struggle to stick to being strict but I knew sa

What happens when you mix a Hen Do and Fitness...

Image
So last weekend I celebrated my best friends Hen do. I've been planning for it for months so I knew the weekend would be a write off for food. What I didn't anticipate however is how much fitness we'd fit into the weekend. Firstly we did Go Ape which is a tree top adventure and involved climbing ladders and cargo nets, I am now covered in bruises and may or may not have developed frost bite in my fingers and toes. Then after a few drinks we decided it would be a great idea to take on some of the fitness challenges that we'd seen on youtube. Of course I filmed these... Below you will find the Cha Cha slide Plank challenge and the Sally up Squat Challenge, as you will see, my form is terrible for both but I will blame this on the alcohol. It was a hen do after all! The whole weekend was a barrel of laughs, I ate my weight in bad food and a fair bit of alcohol was consumed but I still managed to get in some fitness, even if it was silly fitness. 4 weeks unt

In sickness and in health

So since my holiday I have come down with a nasty cold and cough so thought I’d share my experience of what I do when sickness hits. Honestly it depends on how I feel... a lot of people say that you should sweat it out and work through it, maybe they are right? My opinion is that if I can’t breath due to being all blocked up or if I start coughing from simply walking then I probably shouldn’t be pushing myself! If I am not at least 75% of myself then I’ll be staying at home and focusing on rest and relaxation. My theory is that if you’re working out and your not feeling yourself then your form won’t be great and you’re more likely to injure yourself so it’s better two take a day or two to get over what you have than to go at it with poor form and risk injury. When it comes to eating I find that although I crave crap food when feeling poorly it’s better to stick to food with maximum nutrition, lots of vegetables to help build up energy and fight off the bugs. Luckily after two d

Everyone needs to enjoy life and the way I choose to do that is by going on holiday. Usually for everyone, apart from those people that base their holiday around gym facilities, a holiday means taking a step back from your race to get fit and eat healthy and it means a few days (sometimes longer) to really pig out and enjoy yourself.  I live by this rule but since starting this journey I've started adding a few new rules in to do some damage limitation when enjoying yourself on Holiday. My Top Tips Don't say no to treats while you are on holiday, you've paid to enjoy yourself and if you're going to the home of Pizza and Gelato then it wouldn't be right to avoid those foods. Just make sure you have an understanding of the food contents and that will help you make conscious menu choices where you can. Look for opportunities to be more active, what better way to take in the real vibe from a City than to explore it on foot. Buses and Metros are great for tho

When the Snow hits.

Image
Its safe to say that unless you've been hiding under a rock, you'll be aware that this weekend the UK was hit with a big dusting of the white stuff. So how did the snow affect me and my mission to become fit? Well... honestly, it threw me off the waggon a bit. Being snowed in and off work means eating everything in sight. I managed to get to work on Thursday before the snow hit and because it was cold I sought comfort in the Big yellow M and tucked in to some chicken nuggets. I decided that I'd rather be stranded with my friend if I was going to be snowed in rather than being at home so I got some supplies, not your normal milk and bread, I opted for diet coke, strawberries, bacon and yoghurt then I headed off to Emily's when the snow started. We'd planned a healthy dinner of Honey mustard chicken, vegetables and sweet potato followed by some protein pancakes and fruit it was lovely and definitely 6 pack friendly but then somehow I'd also managed to scoff an
